I know many of you who read this journal every day were at the golf tournament today. For all of you who participated, either by playing or by sponsoring, it is important for you to understand the impact of your contribution. The opportunity to play golf is something you enjoy and take advantage of at every opportunity. So, today may have been just like any other for you, but it probably cost you a little more to do it!
As I spoke this evening I conveyed to you a couple of things. One was for you to see what amazing people my sister and John are. The things they have discovered about themselves through this tragedy are enourmous. Secondly, and this is the one I probably did not do so well on, is how what may have seemed like every day routine for all of you, has helped give John and his family a ray of hope for their future. The significance of your contributions through time and money and support will never be forgotten. They are just at the beginning of their journey and there will be many hurdles for them to overcome. The reason you were all there today was to offer your support to them. However, the family wants you to know that, for us, it was all about you. God bless all of you and the special gift you gave, it goes way beyond the financial aspect. |
